CX at it’s best

If you saw the Belgium CX championships yesterday, you will understand why I love CX! It was such an exciting race. Even in the last lap you couldn’t tell who was going to win.

When I watch those races and when I see pictures from the German championships, I really start missing the sport. I started this offseason with some CX training and I really enjoyed it. Sprinting from corner to corner, single trails, jumping off and on the bike and than coming back from a three hour training ride, totally exhausted and covered in mud, that’s what makes you love this sport. I think, I’ve never met anyone, who didn’t fall in love with this sport after their first CX ride.

Unfortunately it isn’t possible for me to mix CX and road season. People asking me, ‘why are you not trying it?’ Well, the answer is, If I do it again, I want to be competitive. I want to be able to fight for the German CX title and getting selected for the worlds and being able to go for Top10 there. My focus will stay on the road for at least the next two years.

As long as I can’t race the big races I will always enjoy watching them! One hour of full, nonstop action. But it’s a real shame, that you can’t watch it on Eurosport or another TV broadcaster in Germany, especially since we have once again at least one top rider who is fighting for victory in the big races.
